The Bonds of Slavery Reside in The Mind

I find it hard to believe sometimes that although people would go to war to prevent becoming slaves, shackled, bound, gagged and put to insidious, torturous work; they so easily submit to some many other things in their daily lives. I understand things are popular for a reason and to a certain extent I am a slave too, a slave to entertainment, enticing excitement bordering on overkill. I am a slave to carnal desires and bloodthirsty tendencies. See, the difference between these things and that of he who would assume the entanglements and bonds of another, without truly seeing where your battles should be fought and won. You cannot win them all, but some are more important than others and must be won head on so as not to risk what little hope is left to overcome overkill. I present to you the idea that one can choose his own bonds with a bed of knowledge that lays the foundation for an open mind. Why not decide your own way of indulging and abstaining with the mood should arise to do so? Get wasted one day and spend the next one reading poetry on a mountain top. Everything your heart desires balanced with submission to the reality of the world we live in. In many ways, moderation is the key to salvation when abstinence is not seen as a viable option. Balance is a necessity when traveling down your own path, but remember, it is not a tightrope or a balance beam. It is a path and the width depends on how far you are willing to go from the edge of darkness to horizon of light.
