Love and Hate

I have found over the years that as an artist there will always be those people who love you and your work, but there are also those that hate what you create as well. As one who has never followed the pack or the latest gimmicks or trends, I realize that I am inviting disdain from those who seek more formulaic forms of entertainment. That's cool, there are plenty of other artists out there that can satisfy the urge for repetitive music. I gain just as much, if not more, energy from the hate as I do from the love. It propels me to be more of myself and become a better artist. I will never become anything but myself in music or any other facet of my life because first and foremost I must be true to myself before I can be true to the world. To be truthfully honest, I take pride in the fact that there are those that hate what I do so much that they can't stop talking about - as wrong as this may seem, I feel I am doing something right if I can provoke that kind of hatred. No one can be loved by all and this is not what I seek out of life or the music industry. I just want to create music, the likes of which the world has never seen to provoke thought and show the others that you don't have to fit into a mold or genre, just be yourself and follow your dreams. If you live your life your way, you don't have to worry about what everybody else thinks and cater to them. Remember, as I do, this is your life and your chance to be great at whatever it is that you do.
